Does anybody know what the support crew penalty is, (if indeed there is such a thing) for using non race support crew on your ships?
For example I am using km support on a ijn ship and everything seems to work ok...

Yes, there is a penalty for that.
I dont know the exact penalty for using other nation crew but as far as I know:
KM crew on IJN ship is like -30/-50% ab
KM crew on UK or US -80% of ab.

It was something like that because KM and IJN where allies...

Ah thankyou, well I can live with that for now and sack my ijn support because I have capped out at 50 crew members.
